Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max at the Wonderlust event. These new flagship phones from Apple bring numerous small and significant changes, marking some of the most important releases from the company in at least the past three years.

Apple’s advanced iPhone models, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, are equipped with titanium bodies, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra and Apple Watch Ultra 2, which also feature a dedicated action button, replacing the Meowth scroll strip. Apple claims that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the most powerful phones in its history.

According to Apple’s press release, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max (like the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus) feature 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays, respectively. These displays differ from the standard Super Retina XDR displays with a 120Hz refresh rate (ProMotion technology).

Apple states that its new flagship phones have the highest power in the mobile phone industry, thanks to their titanium structure. Titanium is now used in the manufacturing of spacecraft.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are considered “the lightest iPhone Pro ever” thanks to titanium. These phones also have the narrowest display bezels among all Apple phones. The new iPhones use Ceramic Shield on both the front and back, which is the strongest glass in the mobile phone industry, according to Apple.

The titanium straps on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max support a new base made from 100% recycled aluminum. Using a special technique, Apple has securely bonded these metals together. The aluminum frame positively affects heat dissipation from the internal components and makes rear glass repair much easier.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come equipped with a new button called the Action Button, replacing the volume scroll bar. This customizable button can be assigned various tasks, such as activating the camera or flashlight, enabling audio recording, adjusting focus, translating, enabling the magnifier, and more. The Action Button is also compatible with shortcuts.

The Action Button utilizes tactile feedback and has special visual effects in the Dynamic Island. To use the Action Button, you need to press and hold it.

The new Apple phones use the A17 Pro processor. According to Apple, the A17 Pro is the fastest processor in the world of mobile devices and can even challenge some advanced computer systems.

The A17 Pro is the world’s first 3-nanometer processor and continues Apple’s leadership in the mobile device processor market. Currently, no Android phones have a 3-nanometer processor.

The central processing unit (CPU) of the new Apple chip is 10% more powerful than the previous generation, thanks to its precise design and improved architecture. The Neural Engine shows up to double the performance. This specialized chip is used for functions such as automatic text or personal voice correction (in iOS 17).

The system on the A17 Pro chip utilizes redesigned graphics. According to Apple, the iPhone Pro 2023 runs mobile games better than any other iPhone. The graphics in the A17 Pro are up to 20% faster than the previous generation and use 6 cores.

Apple has added ray tracing technology to the iPhone through hardware (device version up to four times better than software version). Ray tracing makes graphics more realistic and has already been added to some leading Android processors.

At the Wonderlust press conference, Apple announced that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max can easily run heavy games like Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4, Death Stranding, and Assassin’s Creed Mirage, thanks to the powerful A17 Pro processor.

The Apple A17 Pro processor is equipped with a dedicated AV1 decoding unit for playing higher quality videos more smoothly. Additionally, within Apple’s new chip system, a different controller unit is used compared to the previous generation, making the iPhone compliant with USB 3 for the first time in history.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are equipped with a USB-C port, allowing Apple to bid farewell to the old Lightning port after 13 years. USB-C advantages not only lead to faster charging but also, according to Apple, make the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max the world’s first phones with a transfer speed of 10 gigabits. With this significant change, transferring photos and videos from the iPhone to other devices has become much easier.

Apple’s iPhone cameras have always been among the best, and this statement also applies to the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models. The new iPhone models from Apple use a 48-megapixel primary camera capable of capturing ProRAW and HEIF images with four times greater resolution. The ultra-wide camera remains unchanged compared to the previous generation.

The iPhone 15 Pro features a telephoto camera with 3x zoom, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max zooms up to 5x (a first in iPhone history).

Apple did not mention the term “periscope lens” in its press release, but it stated that the telephoto camera on the iPhone 15 Pro Max features a “quad-structure design.” In periscope cameras, the periscope is used to direct light and increase focal length. This telephoto camera uses optical image stabilization (OIS) and a three-dimensional sensor conversion unit.

According to Apple, the new advanced iPhones for the company capture more detailed photos in low-light environments and display more vibrant colors. Apple states that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max can “add a new dimension to video recording” and will handle recording “location-based video” for Apple Vision Pro.

Both of Apple’s new phones are equipped with the second generation of the Ultra Wideband chip to significantly improve precise location tracking. Thanks to this change, iPhones can record location with high accuracy even in densely populated areas. The new Apple iPhone devices support Wi-Fi 6E and the Qi2 wireless charging standard.

Last year, Apple equipped the iPhone with satellite communication systems. This system has been updated in the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max with a satellite-assisted roadside assistance service.

From now on, American iPhone users facing road issues and unable to access Wi-Fi or cellular networks can report via satellite to AAA, the largest roadside assistance company in the United States. Satellite-assisted roadside assistance will be free for two years.

The starting price for the iPhone 15 Pro in the base configuration (with 128GB of storage) is $999, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max in the base configuration (with 256GB of storage) is $1199.

The pre-sale for the new Apple phones will begin on Friday. Apple announced the release date for the new iPhone devices as September 22, 2023.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are available in “Titanium Black, Titanium White, Titanium Blue, and Titanium Natural” colors. The “Titanium Natural” color resembles gold.
